1066 E 8th Ave is one of my favourite buildings in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. The building is in great condition, and the units have floor plans that would take well to a renovation (and it shows, as there are a lot of nicely renovated units in the building). Ground floor units have large patio/garden spaces, and upper floors units have mountain views if they’re facing the right direction.
You can have a lot of confidence in this complex thanks to the amount of maintenance that has been completed, including: Depreciation Report (2016), Full Rainscreen with Hardi Board siding/New Balconies/New Windows and Doors (2014), Updated Hallways (2016), New Roof (2007), Updated Plumbing (2010). The building was not built with in suite laundry in each unit, but as per the Bylaws, it can be permitted (with strata approval). Otherwise, the common laundry facilities are on the main level in a clean room with enough machines to satisfy the owners in the building. The building offers secure underground parking and storage lockers.
The building allows 2 cats or 1 dog. At this time, rentals (aside from parents or children) are not permitted.
The location of 1066 E 8th Ave puts you 2 blocks to the VCC-Clark Skytrain Station, close to Vancouver Community College, Emily Carr, and the new “False Creek Flats” neighbourhood, which is an area that will see more condos and amenities over the next few years. You’re within walking distance to both Main St & Commercial Drive, and you’re right on some bike lanes to take you to a number of other areas. Walk to Red Truck Brewery, Strange Fellows, and so much more.
