Whether it’s for yourself to create a home that you had a hand in designing (I know that there are a lot of creative people in Vancouver), or if you’re looking to try your hand at flipping condos, this recent Mount Pleasant condo reno has a few good ideas and some great design.

Keep in mind the following reno was done by a seasoned professional who has the know-how, previous experience and likely a great staff he could trust to get the job done

Needless to say, the quality of photos and the staging done in the unit can make a big difference as well. Kudos to this Seller/renovator! Contact us if you’re looking for a condo to renovate, or are almost finished a reno and want it to shine when you finally list it for sale.

Living Room Update

Take a look at the two photos above, note that they’re coming from different angles, but you get the idea. The living room has been completely renovated, from the new flooring (the slight orange tones in the “before” photos always looks dated and cheap) to new modern paint tones to add pot lights to great staging. The “After” photos shows the size of the space and a better layout.

Kitchen Layout Change

The kitchen is where the renovation saw the biggest change – both of these photos are coming from the same angle. The pass-through to the kitchen from the hallway was closed off to add a coat closet and washer/dryer (access from the hallway) but the kitchen was opened up to the living room and moved over slightly. All of the cabinets, counters and finishings were replaced, pot lights were added and good design elements were chosen.

Bedroom Update

Beyond new flooring and paint, there isn’t much you can do to update a bedroom, though this renovator made a few other good decisions. The window was dressed to trick the eye into thinking it’s bigger than it is (thanks to the curtain) and the closet doors were updated to something much more modern. A feature wall was added and the baseboard heaters were painted (if it were me, I would replace the baseboard heaters with something more modern). Notice how much bigger the space looks with furniture!

Bathroom Renovation

Like the kitchen, the bathroom is where you can give a condo renovation a big impact. You have to go big or go home in bathrooms – everything needs to be replaced in order to make the space feel modern. Mirrors, tiles, toilets, sinks, counter, showers, tubs, flooring, toilet roll covers, etc – think about every detail to give the space a fresh look and feel.

Patio Refresh

Thankfully, the patio in this space was also updated with new fencing and a fake grass carpet (be careful with these, you want to make sure the water still drains properly).  I’m a big fan of the wood tiles that snap together and give a patio or balcony a fresh, deck look. They let water drain, don’t need to b stained and are easier to add or remove.
