Covid-19 has been life changing to say the least. As a realtor who is constantly out and about grabbing food and drinks, and often enjoys coffees, lunches and dinners with clients and friends, I have a strong desire to support the local companies I often frequent. Here’s a quick list (and far from extensive) of some of my favourites around Commercial Drive if you’re looking for a new place to support during these trying times.

This is a new restaurant on Commercial Drive serving perfect fresh pasta along with some salads, starters and desserts. They’re offering take away now, in addition to prepared lasagnas and gnocchi which you take home to cook. I ordered some pastas on a sunny day and enjoyed a picnic dinner in the park across the street.

Eternal Abundance is a small vegan grocery shop and cafe. Someone broke a window this week and robbed them, so they need support now more than ever. They’re always been a great place to go for tasty vegan snacks, meals and smoothies (my fave). They offer healthy, satisfying food, perfect to offset all the banana bread we’re all eating 🙂
Earnest Ice Cream – Various Locations – https://earnesticecream.com/
Ernest has decided to close their stores, but they offer online ordering and curb side delivery for ice cream! You might also find their products in some of the smaller, local grocers around the city. Earnest is our go to ice cream spot during the summer and with this sunshine we’re getting it’s a great afternoon treat.

I dare you to walk by and develop a craving! Their food is super flavourful and designed to perfection. It will satisfy that craving! You won’t regret getting a bite from DL. Enjoy it in Grandview Park nearby.

A great Italian Bakery where you can find that delicious dessert (great for bringing to dinner parties on non-Covid days)! I was walking by the other day and they had signs up indicating that they would be working to offer your Easter faves this weekend.

My go to for an incredible sandwich, which you can still order and pick up! They also offer quality pantry staples so you can get what you need for a good dinner at home while avoiding the huge grocery stores and supporting a local staple.
Bandidas Taqueria – 2781 Commercial Dr – https://www.bandidastaqueria.com/
My favourite Mexican Restaurant. They’re offering 4-10pm take away and delivery right now so give them a try if you’re craving tex-mex or a new vegan/vegetarian option!
