Ok, we just finished off the plans with the architect, so now we’re going to be focusing some of the finer details. Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be going over what we’re planning to do with each area of the house, and how it fits into our master plan.
We are going to be doing our renovation in two phases. The first phase will consist of floors, kitchen, 2 bathrooms, and some framing modifications to the upstairs, in addition to some light cosmetic work done to the rental suite downstairs. The second phase will centre around the exterior of the house, and how we can modernize its look. I’m a big fan of concrete, cedar, and glass, but how to implement these, is the tricky part. I feel that when you’re taking a home like this, which was built in 1980, you can make it look very cheesy by overdoing or straying too far from the original look. Anyways, we’ll see if we can pull off phase 2 like I hope we can.
